Academic Advising

Tap into your academic advisor to plan your college path!

Did you know that once you have been admitted to Normandale Community College, you will be assigned an academic advisor?

It’s the best way to find out about majors, degree requirements, graduation and transferring to other schools. Get your questions answered! All advisors work with degree-seeking students exploring liberal education or the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum.

You can meet with your advisor, either on campus or virtually.

Not sure who your advisor is?

We offer two types of advising:

Scheduled appointments

Need to map out your academic plan? These are in-depth advising meetings that are very comprehensive and go into detail. These meetings are 30 minutes and require an appointment. It is recommended that students meet with their assigned advisor when possible.

Same Day Services

Summer Hours 2024: Service hours on Fridays during the summer are 8 am - 12 pm, and only offered virtually (campus is closed on Fridays).  Please note we are closed on Thursday, July 4.

Have a couple quick questions? These sessions are usually 10-15 minutes, and you can talk to an advisor in two ways:

 1.      Express Advising

  • On Campus: Stop by the Student Services Main Desk near the College Services main entrance; bring your photo ID, StarID and password. Monday - Thursday 10 am - 2:45 pm
  • Virtual Fridays: Connect on Zoom using the link below; have your photo ID, StarID or Tech ID and password on hand and a brief description of what type of advising help you need. Virtual Fridays via Zoom: 9 am - 11:30 am

Online Advising

 2.       Chat

  • Advising chat is a great place to get started for quick questions. Have your StarID or Tech ID number ready along with a brief description of what type of advising help you need. Service Hours: Monday - Thursday 12 - 2 pm
