Parents and high school partners are the biggest advocates for PSEO students outside of Normandale. This page provides essential information to help you understand PSEO policies, FERPA regulations, and communication processes, so you can best support your student during their time at Normandale.
The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects students and their private information. Please be aware that FERPA is applied differently in high school than in college. Once a student applies to Normandale, they are considered a college student.
A student's educational record is protected information. This includes but is not limited to grades, transcripts, class lists, student course schedules, student financial information, and discipline files.
Student’s grades, class schedule, academic advisor meeting notes and other information are private. As a result, we cannot discuss these with a parent without the student’s written consent through the Authorization for the Release of Student Information form.
Students may request this form by emailing records@normandale.edu from their Normandale email account, or students may sign it in person at Student Services (first floor, College Services Building).
Note that even if there is an authorization form, Normandale cannot copy parents on emails or provide progress updates.
