PSEO Registration at Normandale

Important Note: You must be accepted to Normandale's PSEO program to be eligible to take classes at Normandale. To apply, visit our PSEO Apply webpage.

As a Normandale PSEO student, you are responsible for completing your course registration and making any schedule changes through Minnesota State’s eServices. It is important that you understand all dates/deadlines and plan accordingly.

Dates and deadlines can be found in Normandale's academic calendar. Normandale's calendar often differs from each high school’s academic calendar. PSEO students must follow Normandale’s class schedule and deadlines, even during high school breaks (winter/spring breaks, in-service days).

Once you have registered for class(es), share your schedule with your high school counselor to ensure you are taking the correct courses and are fulfilling high school graduation requirements. Normandale Academic Advisors do not track your progress toward high school graduation.

10th grade students may only register for one Career and Technical Education course during their first semester of enrollment.

Steps to Register for Courses

How to Register in eServices video

Log into eServices using your StarID and password
Click on [Courses & Registration], then click on [Search for a Course]
Use the [Subject] drop down menu to choose the department, and if you know it, also enter the [Course Number]
Click Search
Click on the course title to find more information including course descriptions and deadlines
Click the add button (plus sign) on the left-hand side of your selected course and then click “Okay” to add to your “Wish List”
Repeat this process to add additional courses to your “Wish List”
To view your “Wish List” click on [Review My Plan]
When you are content with your courses in your “Wish List” check the boxes on the left-hand side of the courses
Then click the [Select Course(s) to proceed to Register] button

Enter your Star ID password and click [Register]

Note: Be sure to keep the grading method as “Normal” to earn a grade and get credit for the course!

Understanding Course Placement

Students can find their course placement in eServices --> Courses & Registration --> Course Placement
Placements represent your readiness for college-level coursework and provide a starting guideline for choosing classes. Your placements are determined using information you provided when applying, including:
- High school GPA
- ACT, SAT, or MCA scores
Students should complete Algebra II or equivalent at their high school before starting math courses at Normandale

Steps to Drop or Withdraw

What is the difference between a drop and withdraw?

	DROP	WITHDRAW
Transcripts	The course will not show up on college transcript	The course will show up on college transcript with a “W” grade indicating course was attempted and later withdrawn
Student Academic Progress Standards	Will not affect GPA or completion rate	“W” grades will not affect GPA but will negatively impact completion rate
Participation	You’re not allowed to attend or participate in the course after you drop	You’re not allowed to attend or participate in the course after you withdraw
High School Notification	High Schools will be sent students semester schedules after the PSEO drop deadline	High School will be notified if students withdraw from their courses throughout the semester

Note: A “W” grade does not affect college GPA. However, check with your high school for details on how a “W” will transfer back to your high school transcript.

Steps to drop or withdraw

Log into eServices using your StarID and password
Select [Courses and Registration] on the left side
Select [View/Modify Schedule]
Click on the “x” next to the class from which you want to drop or withdraw
Type in your StarID password and click [Drop course]/[Withdraw Course]
Wait for confirmation screen to verify course has been dropped/withdrawn

Note: This must be done for each class for which you want to drop/withdraw

Ineligible Courses for PSEO Students

All courses numbered below 1000 (below college-level, developmental education)
All study abroad courses and courses involving overnight travel
All non-credit courses
Any course for which a student has received college credit, even if that course is designed to be repeatable for credit
MUSIC 1100 Beginning Music Lessons/All Sections
MUSIC 2251 Applied Music/All Sections
Expenses at any institution for which PSEO students have NOT been admitted

Credit Limit

Normandale limits all students to 18 credits per semester. If you have previously completed 17 credits in one semester and your cumulative GPA is 3.0 or higher, you may submit a request to register up to 22 credits. To submit this request, please fill out the Credit Limit Override eForm.

Per Minnesota State policy, students' total credits across all Minnesota State institutions cannot exceed 22 credits in any semester.
