PSEO Students - How To Apply

8th Grade MCA reading score of 850 or higher.

• If you did not take the 8th grade MCAs, we will set up alternate testing for you. We currently offer the Accuplacer Reading Exam and are looking for a score of 250 or higher. 
• A student who has failed to achieve the required 8th grade MCA reading proficiency score due to the student's disability, may apply for an alternative eligibility option through the Minnesota Department of Education. 

• 3.0 cumulative high school GPA
• 2.6-2.99 cumulative high school GPA and rank in the top third of your class (listed on your transcript) or submit one of the cumulative test scores below in the 70th percentile or higher:
  • ACT, SAT, PSAT, Pre-ACT, Stanford Achievement Test (SAT10), or Iowa Assessments
• If your high school cumulative GPA is below 2.6, you need to satisfy two eligibility criteria: percentile/ranking (as listed above) and college-level reading placement.
  • Submit MCA, SAT, or ACT reading scores in addition to your high school transcript and other test scores

• 2.6 cumulative high school GPA
• 2.5-2.59 cumulative high school GPA with college-level reading placement
  • Submit MCA, SAT, or ACT reading scores in addition to your high school transcript
• If your high school cumulative GPA is below 2.5, you need to satisfy two eligibility criteria: percentile/ranking and college-level reading placement.
  • Rank in the top half of your class (listed on your transcript) or submit one of the cumulative test scores below in the 50th percentile or higher:
    •  ACT, SAT, PSAT, Pre-ACT, Stanford Achievement Test (SAT10), or Iowa Assessments
  • Submit MCA, SAT, or ACT reading scores in addition to your high school transcript and other test scores

We encourage all students to apply for PSEO at Normandale, however some students may require test scores to be eligible for admission. Find more information on eligibility requirements here

No. If you are not eligible for the PSEO program (fall and spring) you cannot take courses at Normandale, even if you are willing to pay. Students may only participate in the PSEO program if they are admitted through the PSEO admissions process.

No.  All decisions regarding PSEO admission are final.

Per the Minnesota Department of Education Notice of Student Registration (MDE NOSR) form, the deadline to notify your district/high school for fall PSEO registration is May 30th and spring is October 30th. These are during the school year, when high school counselors are available. Your form must be signed by these dates.
