Returning PSEO Students

Welcome back to Normandale’s PSEO program!

For returning PSEO students, there are a few important steps to complete to register for classes. This page will guide you through everything you need to know.

1. Meet with Your High School Counselor

Meet your high school counselor first. They’ll help confirm what graduation requirements you still need and make sure your Normandale courses fit your high school diploma goals. You’ll also need to have your counselor sign the Minnesota Department of Education Notice of Student Registration (MDE NOSR) Form before moving forward.

Important Note: High school counselors are typically unavailable during summer months, so plan early to avoid delays.

2. Submit Your MDE NOSR Form Each Semester

• Drop off your completed form at College Services Front Desk located on the first floor of the College Services building or email it to studentservices@normandale.edu.

• Monitor your Normandale email for confirmation or requests for additional information.

• Your e-Services dashboard will always show a "PSEO MDE Form" hold. This hold is there as a reminder to turn in a new form every semester. The hold will be on your account until you have graduated high school and are no longer a PSEO student. As long as you are able to successfully register, you can ignore the hold.

3. Connect with Your Normandale PSEO Advisor

Schedule an appointment with your PSEO advisor to review your plan. They’ll help you with course registration, transferring credits, and completing an associate's degree if that’s your goal. Need help planning for college or transfer? You can also meet with a Normandale advisor for extra guidance.

Important Information for Returning Students

Use the sections below to review policies and options:

Repeat Courses

PSEO students cannot repeat courses for which they have already earned a passing grade of A, B, C, or D. This includes courses that are designed to be repeated for credit.

You may repeat a course if you have received a grade of F, W, or NW.

Updating Math Placement

If you have taken additional high school math courses since you’ve applied, submit an updated high school transcript for possible course placement increase. Admissions Document Submitter.

Note: Providing an updated high school transcript does not guarantee higher placement. Review Course Placement Criteria

Satisfactory Academic Progress

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requires all students to meet or exceed both of the following requirements. These requirements are evaluated at the end of each semester:

• 2.0 cumulative GPA

AND

• 66.66% (2/3) cumulative completion rate (completion rate is the total number of credits earned divided by the total number of credits attempted)

Students who drop below either SAP requirement will be put on ACADEMIC WARNING for one semester. After the warning semester, students who drop below either SAP requirement again, will be put on ACADEMIC SUSPENSION.

Summer High School Enrollment Program

PSEO isn’t available in the summer, but you can still enroll! Learn more here: Summer High School Enrollment

If you decide to take summer classes, you’ll be responsible for paying tuition and fees. To get started, fill out the Summer High School Enrollment Acknowledgement eForm. You’ll include your parents’ contact information, and both you and your parent must sign the form before you can register. A new form is required each summer if you want to take classes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do PSEO at another college if I am already doing PSEO at Normandale?

Yes. However, to attend another college as a PSEO student you must go through that college’s PSEO admission process. We suggest you discuss this with your high school counselor and your PSEO advisor.

How will my PSEO classes transfer back to my high school?

Your high school determines how PSEO classes will transfer back to your high school. Please continue to meet your high school counselor and share your PSEO class schedule with them. When making schedule changes (adding/dropping/withdrawing), confirm with your high school counselor to see how those changes will impact your high school requirements.

Does my PSEO advisor know what my high school graduation requirements are?

Your PSEO advisor does not know what high school requirements you have left to graduate high school, only your high school counselor can determine those. Please continue to meet your high school counselor and work together with your PSEO advisor if you want to complete those requirements with PSEO.

I want to graduate with an Associate degree, how do I do it?

If you’re interested in learning more about earning an Associate degree while doing PSEO, it is important to plan early and meet with your PSEO academic advisor. Schedule a PSEO advising appointment today!

What is the deadline for having my MDE NOSR form signed by my high school?

Important Deadlines for PSEO Forms

Fall Semester: May 30

Spring Semester: October 30

These dates are during the school year when your high school counselor is available. Your form must be signed by these deadlines.

I am a PSEO student, why do I have a balance due in e-Services?

PSEO students will see an unpaid balance in e-Services until the PSEO drop deadline (10 business days after the start of each semester). The bill will be paid by the PSEO students’ school district or the Minnesota Department of Education, but they wait until after the PSEO drop deadline to ensure that student schedules are finalized.

When will PSEO student schedules and transcripts be sent to the high school?

Normandale will send the following information directly to the high schools through Minnesota State’s secure file sharing system, MoveIt Securely:

Student schedules (after the PSEO drop deadline)

Drop and withdraw notices (throughout the semester)

Transcripts (within two weeks of the end of the semester)
Academic Warning and Suspension notices (after transcripts)

Is there tutoring for PSEO students?

Normandale’s Tutoring Center & Writing Center are free resources available to all students, including PSEO students. Students can receive one-on-one or small group support in a variety of subjects, including writing, math, science, and more. In addition, the center offers PASS (Peer Assisted Study Session) for specific courses and provides access to Study Tools & Technology resources such as calculators and navigating Normandale’s educational technologies.
