We evaluate and grant college credit from colleges, universities, standardized exams and other learning experiences.
You should submit an official transcript of coursework you completed at all institutions that are not a part of the Minnesota State system. We can obtain Minnesota State transcripts electronically on your behalf.
Normandale's Transfer Team evaluates each transcript to determine the number of credits that will be accepted in transfer and how they will apply toward program requirements. All credit is evaluated in accordance with Minnesota State and Normandale policy and procedure, as outlined in the Transfer Credit Policy in the Normandale Course Catalog.
You can view the most current transfer course equivalency information in Transferology, a free website that allows students to see how courses transfer between institutions. Not every institution uses Transferology, but most in Minnesota do – and we recommend creating an account and using this tool.
Admitted Students
After students have been accepted and transcripts are received, they will be reviewed by the transfer evaluation team, typically within 3-5 business days. You will be notified by email once your evaluation is complete. Transcripts are evaluated in the order in which they are received.
Non-Degree and Visiting Students
Transcripts are reviewed and evaluated for prerequisites and placement purposes, but transfer courses will not be applied to your student record.
Processing times may vary
At very busy times of the enrollment cycles (typically August and January), transfer evaluation may take up to 10 business days. It is in your best interest to submit official transcripts as early as possible during the application process.
According to Minnesota State Policy 3.13.1 Transfer Credit Procedure, students have the right to appeal initial transfer credit evaluation decisions. We recommend that you work with your advisor to review your Degree Audit before submitting an appeal.
To submit a transfer course appeal: Login to eServices, and under “Academic Records,” click “Transfer Review” and follow the instructions.
The Normandale Transfer Team requires a World Language Seal/Certificate notation on a high school transcript to award language credit; a certificate print out is not required. Students must show proficiency in the language in grades 10, 11, or 12 (not 9th grade). Students have three years from the date the seal/certificate is issued to claim the semester credits.
