Preparing for College-Level Math Success

The Julie Guelich Math Center helps you prepare for college-level math courses, and provides technology and instruction for Normandale’s Pre-College Math course.

It’s your place to learn in a comfortable yet technologically advanced setting.

Experience a variety of learning styles in the company of faculty, assistants and tutors from the math department. Classrooms C2005 and 2010 are equipped with study tables and Chrome Books are available for use.

The Julie Guelich Math Center is open 30+ hours per week and will most likely accommodate your class schedule. A college lab assistant, mathematics faculty member, and student tutor are onsite as valuable guides to learning.

On campus sections of our Pre-College Math class are delivered either in a Hybrid or Fully On-Campus format. These classes are scheduled to meet for two or three hours on campus each week. Mostly Online Pre-College Math classes will meet on campus for proctored assessments. Students may work on mathematics topics independently or in groups, and with tutors, lab assistants, or instructors. You’ll always find the help you need.

Both online tools and time with your professor will help ensure your success. ALEKS (Assessment and Learning through Knowledge Systems) is a sophisticated online tool to guide you through mathematics topics in an instructor-directed, personalized way.

You’ll also meet weekly with your instructor for problem-solving and other learning opportunities.

We encourage you to study in the center outside of class time. Our tutors, lab assistants and professors are ready to answer questions and supply guidance. ALEKS (Assessment and Learning through Knowledge Systems) can help speed your progress and learning.
