Military Transcripts

Accelerate Your Degree Program

You may be eligible to receive credit for your military training and occupation while in the service. These valuable credits enable you to finish your degree faster while saving money. Contact our Veterans Advisor at the Veterans Resource Center by email or call 952-358-9043 to review your file and find transferable credits.

If you have exam credit from AP, IB, CLEP or DSST, you’ll want to request those transcripts also. Credit is awarded after we receive your official transcript at Normandale.

The following example shows how one-third of degree requirements may be fulfilled with military credits:

• The AA degree in Liberal Education is 60 credits, 40 of which are prescribed courses in the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum and not subject to military credits.
• Here’s how the remaining 20 credits may be fulfilled with military credits:
  • At least 1 credit in Health and 1 credit in Exercise Science: most basic combat training includes these credits.

• • 18 elective credits: credits from job training, leadership courses, and time in your occupation can be applied in this category.

Other degree programs may require an appeal process to determine if military credits fulfill more specific requirements.
