Starting August 9, the way you log in to D2L Brightspace, Zoom and Kaltura Media Space is getting a small upgrade to keep your information safer and streamline system access. The transition is expected to be completed on August 10 at 5 a.m. — students and employees may or may not be able to use these systems during the upgrade.
What’s changing?
You’ll now sign in the same way you do for Outlook (your Normandale email), and you’ll need to confirm your login on your phone using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
Here’s how you’ll log in
- Username: Your StarID + @go.minnstate.edu (or @minnstate.edu for employees)
- Password: Your usual StarID password
- MFA: Install the Microsoft Authenticator app first. You’ll use the MFA method you selected when you first logged into your Normandale email account. This could include a text message, a prompt from the Microsoft Authenticator app, or a phone call to approve the login.
No smartphone or not sure about MFA: No problem. Reach out to the IT Service Desk ASAP so they can help you set up another option.
Why this matters
This new sign-in process:

- Gives you one simple login for everything Minnesota State
- Makes it easier to access your classes and resources
What do you need to do:
- Set up MFA so you don’t get locked out.
- Bring your phone with you when you need to log into your Normandale email, D2L, Zoom and Kaltura.
