The Library offers a variety of study and research facilities designed to meet the various needs of our library users.

  • Wireless Internet connections are available throughout the Library. All carrels in the East Room have power outlets available for laptops. Additional outlets are available along the north and south walls of the East Room as well as along the north wall of the Reading room, the overlook area of the Mezzanine Level, all group study rooms, and throughout the North Room.
  • The Reference Room (L2734) is the main room of the Library. In addition to the Reference Collection, one finds the Reference Desk, 24 computer workstations for course-related research, several carrels for individual study, microfilm/microfiche viewer/copiers, and a shelf of New Books.
  • The East Room (L2730) is the Quiet Study Area in the Library. In addition to housing the majority of the Library's General Collection, there are several carrels for individual study located along the eastern wall and among the bookshelves. As this is the Quiet Study Area, cell phone use and conversations are not permitted. Please notify a Library staff member of any infractions.
  • The North Room (L2722) contains the current issues of magazines and newspapers. This space also includes the audio-visual equipment, some group study rooms, tables and carrels for individual and group study, and the Librarians' offices. Due the amount and nature of the activities in the North Room quiet conversations are permitted. If you require a quieter space, please use the Quiet Study Area in the East Room (see above).
  • The Circulation Desk is located in Room L2701. All circulation services occur at the Circulation Desk, including the checking-out and returning of all materials and the scheduling of group study rooms. The following materials must be requested at the Circulation Desk: reserve materials, back issues of magazines and newspapers, audio-visual materials, CD-ROMs, audio books, and laptops.
  • Library Research Laboratory (LRL), room L3711, is located on the upper level of the Library. This room serves as the main Library Research Instruction classroom. L3711 is available for students' use Monday - Thursday: 9:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.; Friday: 9:00 am - 12:00 p.m.; if no classes are scheduled. The lab is closed during Summer sessions, non-class days, and semester breaks.
