Normandale 2022 In-Person Commencement Ceremony Took Place at Orchestra Hall on May 16

Normandale Community College honored its graduates in-person at the annual Commencement Ceremony on May 16 at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis.

Over 400 graduates were participating in the ceremony, which honored summer 2021 and Fall 2021 graduates, along with candidates for spring 2021 graduation. Normandale Commencement returned in-person to Orchestra Hall after conducting virtual ceremonies in 2020 and 2021.

The student speaker was Phi Theta Kappa President and recent Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship Award recipient Insia Kizilbash. Kizilbash was also a Campus Compact Award recipient for the work she did in advocating for the Normandale Campus Cupboard.

Math Instructor Mark Ahrens was named Distinguished Faculty Award Winner and Director of the Tutoring Center Beena Cook was named the Staff Member of Distinction Award, and 2022 graduate comments. Speakers at the ceremony included Alumnus Bryce Jasper, who graduated in 2011 and is an attorney at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, last year's Distinguished Faculty Award Winner Carol Larsen; Normandale President Dr. Joyce Ester and Minnesota State Board of Trustee Alex Cirillo.
