Tutoring/Writing Center

The Tutoring Center, located in C 2120, has tutoring services available for all Normandale students, including walk-in tutoring, Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) group sessions for specific classes, online tutoring assistance by Normandale students and staff and computer and study assistance.

The Tutoring Center offers all Normandale students free, walk-in and online tutoring provided by faculty, staff, volunteers and peers in core academic courses including mathematics, writing, science, logic and reading. Tutoring schedules are posted on the Tutoring website and in the center.

Writing Center:

The Writing Center offers students peer tutoring on college writing assignments. Tutors emphasize clarity and organization of main ideas, effective style and recognition of standard punctuation and grammar practices. Proofreading is not offered.

ESL Tutors

Professional totors assist ESL students with writing and reading assignemnts in EAP, pre-college and college-level classes.  Tutors focus on the elements of an academic essay, recognizing patterns of error, and understanding the rules of English grammar, punctuation and mechanics.  Tutors offer reading comprehension and study strategies.

Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS):

PASS review sessions are offered in select Normandale courses by trained tutors who attend the course. The review sessions are regularly scheduled, out of class, voluntary, and are open to all students enrolled in the course. Specific session information is available in the center.

Online Tutoring Through Tutor.com

Normandale students receive up to 15 hours of free online tutoring per year through tutor.com.  The link for this service is on the D2L home page.
