Veterans Resource Center

The Veterans Resource Center is open to student-Veterans, Servicemembers, friends, family members, faculty and staff as a place to socialize, study, and relax. Enjoy some coffee or sweet treat when you stop by. Computer workstations with printing available. The Center is staffed with Student Workers during Fall & Spring semesters. Support staff in Admissions, Financial Aid, and Advising are nearby or just a phone call away.
Veterans' Advisor & School Certifying Official
Lori joined the Normandale Community College staff in May 2016, bringing with her many years of experience as a Certifying Official at a private university. She works closely with students who are using VA Education Benefits, helping from the point of applying for benefits to transferring out to another school, and everything in between. Although not a veteran herself, Lori comes from a proud military family including her father (Army), uncles (Army, Navy), and her brother (Army-NG Red Bulls - retired after 16 years). Ms. York holds an A.A. and a B.A. degree from Bemidji State University.

Jen is the point-of-contact for questions about your tuition bill, tuition deferments, Chapter 33 tuition payments, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Federal Tuition Assistance. She works hard to make sure incoming benefit payments are the correct amount and get applied to the right place at the right time. Seriously, she is amazing!

Kathy Bachman, South Metro Regional Coordinator for MDVA's Higher Education Veterans Program

Kathy brings to campus a wealth of knowledge of benefits and resources beyond VA education benefits. As a representative of the Higher Education Veterans' Program, she is dedicated to helping students succeed personally and academically. When she visits the Veterans Resource Center, Kathy is available to field questions and concerns of our student-Veterans, active service personnel, and family members. Phone calls and emails also welcome.
Staff from the Minneapolis VA visit students on campus to provide information about enrolling into VA health care services and then assists veterans or service members with getting linked to VA primary care medical services. After they are connected to primary care, they can smoothly transition to into other support services from VA like mental health, substance use disorder services, TBI & poly-trauma clinics, and other specialty care.
