Please note: the Writing Center will be closed for Fall Break on Thursday 11/24 and Thursday 11/25. Students needing tutoring can access Tutor.com from the "Academics" tab on their D2L homepage.
Welcome to the Normandale Writing Center!
We offer online and in-person appointments, as well as workshops and other group events:
Online appointments take place over Zoom. After booking your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with a zoom link to use for your appointment.
In-person appointments take place in the Tutoring and Writing Center (C2190). At times, it may be necessary for us to replace in-person appointments with online appointments; you will be notified in advance of these changes.
This session will use pranayama (controlled breathing) and several introductory asanas (poses) to think about sentence variety and the different types of energy that sentences can bring to your writing. It will also use several of the (warrior) poses to feel in our bodies what it means for there to be smooth flow between ideas in an essay.
Have questions? Need help scheduling an appointment? Email email@example.com or drop by the Tutoring and Writing Center (C2190) from 8am-5pm Monday-Thursday or 8am-4:30pm Friday to speak with staff.
What's the Writing Center all about?
At the Writing Center, students' needs lead! When you visit the Writing Center, you can expect your tutor to ask what you'd like to get out of the tutoring session and then work alongside you to accomplish that goal and improve your writing.
We offer Normandale students free peer tutoring on your writing assignments for classes across Normandale, as well as your scholarship and application essays.
Writing Center tutors help with all parts of the writing process and many aspects of academic writing, including brainstorming, writing a thesis, analysis, organization of ideas and paragraphs, citation (MLA and APA), and sentence structure.
Tutor.com is an online tutoring service that is also available to registered Normandale students. Tutor.com services are limited to 15 hours per student, per school year, so we recommend using it as a backup option for when the Tutoring and Writing Centers aren't available.
