Normandale Nursing Program Application Process

How do I apply?

All applicants must be admitted to the college before applying.

Please note that the Normandale Community College Nursing Program is not PSEO eligible.

The application for Fall 2026 Admission will open March 1, 2026, and remain available through April 15, 2026. Applications are only accepted during the admission cycle.

Official transcripts from private, out-of-state, or the University of Minnesota system that show final grades for prerequisite courses must be received by the Records Office for evaluation by May 30, 2026.
Official transcripts from Minnesota State Colleges and Universities will be automatically retrieved and evaluated by the Records Office, and the final grades for prerequisite courses must be posted by May 30, 2026.
Official ATI score reports must be sent to Normandale by the application deadline.
Admission decisions will be sent via email to the address provided on the application on June 8, 2026, and require a response to claim offered seats by June 12, 2026.
Program Orientation for admitted students is Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 4-6 PM via Zoom.
Classes begin Monday, August 24, 2026.
Please note that final grades provided on official transcripts received after posted deadlines will not be used in the admission decisions.

Students must first apply for general admission and be admitted to Normandale Community College before applying to the nursing program. Applications for admission to the college are typically processed in one to three business days. 

Students who have previously been admitted for general admission, but have not completed a Normandale course in two or more semesters will need to complete a Returning Student Form.

Students who have not attended Normandale for two or more years will need to re-apply to the college.

Please be sure to apply to the college, or complete the Returning Student Form, by April 1, 2026. This will ensure that your nursing application can be submitted before the April 15, 2026 Nursing Application deadline.

Applicants who qualify for international general admission status should apply for general admission not later than March 15, 2026.  Visit the Admissions webpage for additional information.

Nursing Information Session – February 24 and March 5

If you are interested in applying for the Nursing program for Fall 2026 or Spring 2027, attend an information session to learn more. Nursing staff and advisors will explain the application and admission process for the nursing program and be available to answer questions.

When Is the Nursing Program Application Deadline?

Application deadlines are as follows:

Fall Semester admission - Application open from March 1 – April 15
Spring Semester admission - Application open from September 1 – October 15

The Application windows close at 2359 (11:59 p.m.) Central (GMT-6). Applications cannot be started after that time.

What Are the Requirements for Applicants?

You must be an accepted Normandale student.
Be enrolled in or have completed the Prerequisite Semester Courses (or equivalents)
- ENGC1101: College writing
- CHEM1050: Foundations of Organic and Biochemistry
- BIOL2041: Anatomy
- PSYC1050: Introduction to Human Development
Complete the current ATI TEAS exam and have scores provided to Normandale Community College

How Should I Prepare to Apply?

Prepare to respond to questions about the following topics:

Demographic information
List of colleges attended
TEAS test date, method and score
License information if you are an LPN
Work and volunteer experiences
Other life, educational and training experiences
Teamwork, collaboration and accountability experience
Beliefs and values

Approach the application carefully. You will only have one chance to submit your application. The form cannot be edited once submitted.

What Is the Holistic Admissions Process?

The Normandale Community College Nursing program uses a Holistic Admissions process. This recognizes your unique experiences alongside traditional measures of achievement like grades and test scores.

The Holistic Admissions Review includes these three components:

Metrics (GPA and TEAS score) - 40%
Experiences (formal education, service and lived experiences) - 30%
Attributes (intellectual curiosity, training, certifications, teamwork and collaboration, beliefs and values) - 30%

The process prioritizes experience and attributes as well as metrics. The more information you provide about yourself, the better the reviewers can determine your level of preparedness for the rigor of the nursing program.
