Studying abroad allows students to earn academic credit while experiencing the adventure and exhilaration of living in a new place. The International Education Study Abroad program at Normandale Community College is offered in collaboration with EGL (Education for Global Learning), partnership with University of Wisconsin, River Falls, and Normandale faculty led programs.

Why Study Abroad?


We live in a very globalized world and having study abroad experience gives students an edge in the marketplace. Many companies are multinational and they are looking for individuals who have a worldview, who understand the sensitives regarding culture, heritage, tradition and religion.

Many four-year institutions are now requiring a study abroad experience, including Carlson School of Business. A study abroad experience at Normandale can be applied to most schools' requirement.

2012 - 2014 Semester Programs


Scotland
Live and study in a 300 year-old castle in Dalkeith, Scotland, six miles from Edinburgh. Go to www.uwrf.edu/wis for application and information. Cost approximately $7800 including room and board, and tuition. Airfare is separate.

Deadline for spring 2013 is November 1, 2012.

Singapore
Study in a cosmopolitan city that offers a world-class living environment.
Semester programs offered in fall and spring as well as summer sessions. Go to www.ace.edu.sg for cost and deadlines.

Costa Rica
Spring semester 2014.

Spain/Eduardo

China
Experience China! Set in beautiful Hangzhou, "Experience China" provides a rich, cultural immersion with the comfort and safety of an organized and well-staffed international learning community. Fall and spring semesters offered. Go to www.uwrf.edu/experiencechina for application and information.

2013 Travel

Food is Culture (ANTH 1900 / HLTH 1900) – March 8 - 16, 2013 (Spring Break). Costs; approximately $4213 plus tuition (3 credits). Learn about cultural behaviors and/or nutrition and health while visiting Germany, Switzerland, and France. Communications Italy and Greece May 18 - May 27, 2013 (with option to add on three days in the Greek Islands). Global Health Perspective - May 22 - June 1, 2013. Costs; approximately $1865 plus air fare and tuition (3 credits). This is a service learning project that allows students to work and serve in the Central American country of Belize. Business in Russia (BUSN 900 ) June 17 - 25, 2013. Early application deadline is November 30, 2011. Study and compare the business models between American and Russian businesses while visiting Moscow and St. Petersburg. Cost is approximately $3,540 plus tuition (3 credits). Study abroad in one of the financial capitals of the world (Hong Kong) and visit one of the entertainment cities of the world (Macau).
