      The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Unit retrieves published materials that are not owned by the NCC Library for NCC faculty, staff, and students.

 

Submitting an Interlibrary Loan Request

1.

Check the Library Catalog (MnPALS) to verify that the NCC Library does not own the item.

2.

Review the Materials Not Requested policy statements.

***Note: some types of materials cannot be requested for Interlibrary Loan.

3.

Fill out and submit the appropriate ILL form:

 

*   Journal Articles

 

*   Books & Other Materials

 

***Note: Interlibrary Loan requests require a minimum of five working days to complete the ILL cycle. 

4.

After at least 3 working days you may ask Circulation Desk staff to check the status of your request.  Or you may check the status yourself online.

5.

You may request a renewal on Interlibrary Loaned materials.  Please contact the Circulation Desk at (952) 487-8290 to request a renewal on loaned materials.

 

Eligible Users

Students:

All currently enrolled students from Normandale Community College may use Interlibrary Loan services to access collections outside of NCC Library.

 

Students who are not registered but are completing NCC course work need to contact the Circulation staff to make special arrangements.

 

Staff :

 

Staff from Normandale Community College may use NCC's Interlibrary Loan services.

 

Faculty:

 

Faculty from Normandale Community College may use NCC's Interlibrary Loan services.

 

Faculty Emeriti and visiting faculty may also use Interlibrary Loan services.

 

Community Users :

 

Patrons with NCC Library Community User cards may use NCC's Interlibrary Loan service.

 

Materials Not Requested

 

The following types of materials cannot be requested from other libraries:

 

 Books with pre-1800 imprint dates.

 Rare books and manuscripts.

 Unpublished materials.

 Reference materials.

 Non-standard formats (maps, posters, kits, etc.).

 Single issues of bound volumes of periodicals.

 Most videos – Ask at the Circulation Desk for more details.

 

Renewals

Renewals can be requested for items.

Requesting a renewal does not guarantee a renewal. Renewals must be granted by the library that loaned the item. The length of the renewal is determined by the lending library.

Overdues

If you have three overdue Interlibrary Loan materials,  your library privileges will be suspended.

To clear up overdue problems contact the Circulation desk.
 

Costs

The Library absorbs the costs associated with normal Interlibrary Loan borrowing activities for Eligible Users. 

The individual borrower is responsible for any replacement costs for lost Interlibrary Loan materials.
 

Interlibrary Loan and Reserves

Faculty are reminded that books and other “returnable” materials received through Interlibrary Loan may not be placed on Reserve.

Faculty may place photocopies or other “non-returnable” materials received through Interlibrary Loan on Reserve.
