Colleen Simpson, Executive Director of Foundation and Resource Development

Normandale Community College and Normandale Community College Foundation Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of Colleen Simpson as the Executive Director, Foundation and Resource Development.

Simpson is in charge of leading Normandale Foundation activities, guiding the organization's development and education vision, overseeing the success of its programs, collaborating with staff and serving as a champion for the college, among many other responsibilities.

"I am thrilled to have this opportunity to be part of the Normandale team, and look forward to this exciting journey of growing the Foundation and responding to the educational needs of our community," said Simpson.

She comes to Normandale with more than 20 years of successful fundraising experience, while building strong relationships with colleagues, boards, donors and volunteers. Prior to being recruited for the position at Normandale, she was a hospital Vice President in Los Angeles County where she built a foundation from the ground up. Simpson recruited an active, respected and vibrant board while writing all Foundation policies, procedures, by-laws, creating successful fundraising events and also directing other hospital departments.

For more than 14 years, Simpson was the Director of Operations and Community Connectivity on the leadership team at the Park Nicollet Foundation. Prior to that, she was the Development Director for the State of Nebraska's American Lung Association and also served as an FDA Compliance Officer for a biotechnology company in Minneapolis.

A 2007 recipient of the Minnesota Monthly Magazine "Heart of the Event Award" and a two-time finalist for a Twin Cities' Women of Achievement Award, Simpson has also served on multiple non-profit boards of directors, often chairing those boards, in the Twin Cities, Ohio and California.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology, with a minor in Education at Iowa State University, and is a certified Medical Technologist (ASCP) with a microbiology emphasis. She is also certified in planned giving and major gift areas of fundraising.

Colleen and her husband have lived in Deephaven for 20 years and have two grown sons. Colleen can be reached at 952-358-8146 or click here.
