EdTrAc Students at Normandale

Teacher Education

The Normandale Education Department offers -

  • Coursework plans
  • Variety of Education Courses
  • A.S. degree in Elementary Education and Special Education 
  • Support for students planning to major in education. 

Students attending Normandale should

  • complete the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC)
  • complete prerequisites toward a teaching degree
  • be prepared to transfer to finish their four-year teaching degree.

Four-year degree partnership with Minnesota State University - Mankato

Students can earn certain four-year teaching degrees at Normandale. Through a partnership with Minnesota State University, Mankato, their faculty members teach third-and fourth-year courses in the South metro, which enables students to complete a four-year degree in elementary education or special education. Students receive a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Mankato.

Transfer to Other 4-year Institutions

Students planning to transfer to complete a four-year degree at another college or university can meet some or all the requirements with an A.S. degree.

Support for future educators

The EdTrAc Office offers support for students planning to begin a teaching degree at Normandale. Students can meet the prerequisites for an elementary (K-6), secondary (5-12) or K-12 degree and prepare to transfer.  EdTrac staff also does outreach to area high schools.  We encourage students to consider becoming a teacher, and to consider beginning their teacher education program at Normandale.
