Multimedia Production

Purpose

The purpose of this service is to enhance the teaching and learning experience at Normandale by enabling faculty and staff to develop original multimedia content through the use of multimedia production resources (audiovisual equipment, studio, sound room, etc.

Although the development of academic content is given top priority, promotional and training videos can also be produced. Whether you'd like to create videos, photos, slideshows, animation, or other multimedia - we are here to help! It all begins with a request form (AskUs).

To submit a request follow the steps below.

  1. Visit the Ask Us web page.

  2. Log in with your username (the one used to log into your computer)

  3. Click on the "Ask a Question" tab

  4. Fill out the form and request your software

  5. Select a topic in IT Support/Multimedia Production/...

Our production staff are very adaptable and can work both onsite and off campus.

Studio - Our Studio and Edit Suite are fully equipped with audiovisual, lighting and editing equipment. Teachers can arrange to use a classroom mock-up with a whiteboard, computer and other instructional technology to record authentic lectures and demonstrations. The Multimedia Production Service also welcomes the creation of original content or suplementary multimedia for presentations (PowerPoint, Keynote or Prezi).

We are glad to help develop multimedia content for:

  • Institutional presentations

Recording Booth - If your project requires noise reduction or privacy, you can use our Recording Booth. It's a sound isolated space equipped with a dual boot computer (Windows and Mac), a variety of multimedia creation and editing software, a podcast microphone, SMART Podium interactive pen display. It has what you need to get started on your project. Contact the Multimeida Developer to check availability. The Recording Booth is available on a first come, first served basis.

Installed software: Screen Flow, Camtasia 8, Adobe Creative Suite CS6 (incl. Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro CC, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash) MovieMaker, iMovie and iPhoto.

- Users must provide storage for their files (i.e. flash drive, portable hard drive, etc.).

Kaltura is the official video platform provided by MnSCU. This video platform can encode video files so that they are compatible with most computers and mobile devices and is able to seamlessly present video content through the use of device detection and customized players.

Media Space - is a cloud-based web service developed by Kaltura, which facilitates the conversion and distribution of various audio and video media formats. MediaSpace allows you to upload videos or other media, make webcam and screen recordings, and add closed captioning. Faculty and staff may upload media content to the MediaSpace server that automatically converts and optimizes your media for hassle-free distribution on the web. Once uploaded, MediaSpace will provide links and embed code that you can use to share your media with others. This service is offered to the MnSCU community at no cost.
