Getting to Orchestra Hall

  • We recommend the following parking ramps surrounding Orchestra Hall:

    "11th Street & Marquette Avenue Municipal Parking Ramp" or "Hilton Municipal Ramp" at 11th Street & 2nd AvenueOrchestra Hall is connected through skyway to both ramps.

  • Parking and Drop-off Locations:  The Orchestra Hall main entrance on 11th Street adjacent to Peavey Plaza is available as a convenience drop-off and pick-up location.  Parking spaces for patrons with disabilities are available in the 11th and Marquette Municipal and Hilton Municipal parking ramps, which are both connected to Orchestra Hall by skyway.

  • Parking Voucher:  Each graduate will be offered one parking voucher to be used for the Normandale Commencement event at select Minneapolis Municipal Parking Ramps surrounding Orchestra Hall.  At this time, we do not know which parking ramps will be designated for our event.  This information will be available in your Distribution Day packet.  Parking vouchers can only be claimed on Distribution Day (Tuesday, May 8, 2018).

  • Light Rail Service:  Disembark the Blue Line or Green Line train at Nicollet Mall station and walk south down the Mall from 5th Street to 11th Street, or take any southbound route on Marquette Avenue to 11th Street. Orchestra Hall is located on 11th Street between Nicollet Mall and Marquette Avenue.

  • Metro Transit Bus ServiceOrchestra Hall is located on 11th Street between Nicollet Mall and Marquette Avenue. For routes running on Hennepin and Marquette Avenues to Orchestra Hall, please visit Metro Transit Trip Planner. Select "Orchestra Hall" from the "Attraction" dropdown in the destination section to find real-time information for bus and light rail routes.

Guest Information

  • A ticket will be required to enter the auditorium except for children under the age of 2.  See 'Guest Tickets' below.
  • Auditorium opens for Commencement guests at 5:30 pm
  • Auditorium doors close promptly at 6:25 pm for the Processional portion of the event
    • For safety and security purposes, doors will open no earlier than 5:30 pm and will close promptly at 6:25 pm for the Processional.  Late guests will not be allowed to enter the hall until after the Processional has ended. Allow plenty of time for traveling and parking during rush hour.
  • Commencement Processional begins promptly at 6:30 pm.
  • There will be flowers available for sale in the lobby prior to the program.
  • Balloons are not allowed in the facility.

Guest Tickets

  • Every guest including children over the age of 2 must have a ticket to enter the auditorium.  Children under 2 are expected to sit on laps.
  • Graduates will be allowed up to 5 tickets for their guests.  Graduates do not need a ticket!
  • Tickets will be given out as part of Distribution Day on May 8.
  • Due to limited seating, extra tickets will not be available.

Photography

  • The College provides a professional photographer who will take graduates' pictures as they are recognized on stage and in a portrait setting. Photos will be available online through Lifetouch.

Special Accommodations

  • An escalator is available at the skyway entrance of Orchestra Hall, traveling between Balcony A and the Main Floor. The escalator will descend prior to the concert and ascend post-concert. Elevators are located on both the east and west side of the Lobby for access to all floors.
