Normandale Phi Theta Kappa Chapter receives Regional and International Awards

The Normandale Community College Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter received numerous awards at the National Convention event in Orlando, Fla.

Normandale's PTK chapter was named a Top 100 Chapter award out of over 1,250 worldwide chapters. The Normandale PTK chapter also received international awards as a REACH Reward Chapter (reached at least 15% of eligible members for acceptance into membership), for its Distinguished Honors in Action Project (top 40 are recognized) and for the Distinguished Advisor Team.

The chapter was first-place in the region in the Distinguished Honors Action Project category, and received regional honors in the Distinguished Honors in Action Theme and for their Distinguished Advisor Team.

Individually, Normandale students Sara Simmons (Most Distinguished Officer), Azul Bolanos (Distinguished Officer Runner-up) and Garrett Maag (Distinguished Member) received Phi Theta Kappa regional honors.

Normandale History instructor Lisa Rude received an international and regional Paragon Award for New Advisors, while Normandale English instructor Linda Tetzlaff received the international and regional Continued Excellence Advisor Award. Tetzlaff was also the only individual in the nation to receive PTK Advisor Emeritus honors this year.
