Normandale Community College announces the appointment of Andrea Specht as the Interim Foundation Executive Director and Chief Institutional Advancement Officer.

In this role, Specht will oversee Normandale's 501(c)(3) Foundation and its Marketing Communications department. She will also serve on the President's Senior Leadership Team, represent the College on the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and in other community relations capacities.

"Andrea is a collaborative, engaging leader who has built many connections and is well-respected regionally for her accomplishments at Artistry," said Normandale Community College President Joyce Ester. "We are excited to have her at Normandale to lead the continued growth of our advancement initiatives."

Specht comes to Normandale after 10 years as Executive Director and Chief Advancement Officer of Artistry, a Bloomington-based theater and visual arts nonprofit serving a regional audience of more than 82,000.

Under Specht's leadership, Artistry grew its annual operating budget by 65%, more than tripled contributed revenue, and completed a major rebranding. The organization also launched a first-in-the-nation municipal Creative Placemaking Commission with the City of Bloomington and achieved more than tenfold growth in outreach programs that now serve more than 8,500 people.

"It is an honor to advance Normandale's mission and engage a growing circle of friends and advocates in the College's success," said Specht. "From the remarkable diversity of the campus community to the excellence and dedication of our faculty and staff, Normandale is a treasured asset in the south metro and our great Twin Cities region."

Specht has more than 20 years of experience leading, governing and managing nonprofit organizations to achieve excellence in arts and culture, lifelong learning, youth development and civic engagement. Before joining Artistry, Specht was the Director of Marketing & Communications at the Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley and practiced law at Doris & Whitney, LLP. She serves as a board member of the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce and Minnesota Citizens for the Arts, and has recently concluded board service with the Bloomington Noon Rotary Club and The Rose Ensemble.

Specht earned her Juris Doctorate summa cum laude from the University of St. Thomas School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Macalester College.
