Normandale Hosts Events for Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April

Normandale Community College will host several events throughout the month of April for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).

Sgt. Heather Weyker, of the St. Paul sex trafficking unit, will be speaking on Human Sex Trafficking in the metro area in the Kopp Student Center Garden Room on Wednesday, April 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Wednesday, April 22, there will be a SAAM Concert featuring music and poetry from local artists at the Kopp Student Center Overlook from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

During the month of April, Normandale will also host the Clothes Line Project. This is an art project that will be open to the public, and will run from April 6 to 30 in the Kopp Student Center by the art wall. The Marines will also be teaching a series of self-defense classes for women on four consecutive Mondays on April 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 12 to 1 p.m. in A 1500. No registration is necessary, The class is open to the first 24 people who arrive.
