International Kids Club

Agency Description: International Kids Club is a program run in collaboration with Normandale Community College, Bloomington Public Schools, and the Bloomington Rotary (a group of local professionals who like to help their community). The event aims to promote literacy for international and immigrant children and their families.  At the event the kids eat dinner with their families, get a book read to them, they do activities at stations.  Each night has a fun theme to help engage the kids and each of the activities relate to this theme.  The activities are usually games or crafts.

Position Description: Volunteers help facilitate literacy-based activities.  Roughly 30 to 50 children attend each event and you and 1-2 other volunteers would work with a group of usually about 10 students at a time.  All game instructions and materials are provided to you.  We seek volunteers who are energetic and like interacting with kids.  If you need a ride we can carpool from Normandale.  All volunteers get a free dinner.
