The Normandale Commitment to Veterans

Normandale Community College honors this country's veterans and military service members by providing steps that will help ensure their transition back to school and the community. This commitment provides trained personnel in the Veterans Resource Center, many of whom are veterans, to assist service members and their families.

The Veterans Resources Center staff assists current and future students with:

A Welcome Gathering Place

The Veterans Resource Center serves as a place on campus that Veterans and Servicemembers can call their own and feel at home.  The VRC is a great place to socialize and network with fellow students, staff, faculty, and alumni.  We have an assortment of pamphlets and fliers that cover a full spectrum of support topics - education benefits, healthcare, other VA benefits and support resources. Drop by (C1103) to talk with our student-staff or make an appointment to meet with our dedicated Veterans Advisor.

Normandale, which has one of the highest military veteran populations among Minnesota State institutions, is one of nine two-year colleges in the system to be deemed a Yellow Ribbon Company.

To earn this designation, Normandale has served as host site for Yellow Ribbon meetings, re-integrations, and other events sponsored by the Minnesota National Guard. The college has also partnered with the Hennepin South Workforce Development Center to promote opportunities to veterans, participated in Joining Forces program to bring awareness to healthcare needs of veterans, partnered with American Corporate Partners (ACP) to provide mentoring opportunities for veterans, and engaged in many other activities to benefit military veterans on campus and in the community.
