Welcome Weeks are a great time to find out what Normandale has to offer when it comes to your academic and social experiences. Stay connected and find out more about what Normandale has to offer that fits your individual interests.

Virtual Coffee Corner with Student Affairs: 10:30am-12pm - Please join President Ester and the Student Affairs team as they introduce their roles here at Normandale and have space to connect with students on important topics such as Fall 2020 semester, mental health, basic needs, services and more.

Tuesday 12

Tutoring Open House :  10:00 - 11:00am  Come meet the Tutoring Center staff and learn about ways to connect with tutors.  Ask questions, book an appointment, or just socialize with the staff.  Learn more about our tutor offerings:

  • ESL tutoring is 1:1 with a professional tutor
  • Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) is group tutoring available for select courses
  • Peer Tutoring is 1:1 assistance through zoom
  • Writing Center is 1:1 assistance through zoom
  • Tutor.com - non-Normandale tutors available to assist in many courses
  • Study skills, D2L navigation, time management tips, test taking strategies, and more!

Virtual Yoga with Anita:  9am-10am  Come join us for some Virtual Yoga with Anita from Twin Cities Metro Yoga! This is a beginner friendly interactive yoga session for individuals of all skill levels. We would love to have you!

Student Life Food and Supply Drive Distribution: 9am - 2pm - Stop by the college for food, school, and hygiene supplies while meeting some of our Student Life Staff

Location: Campus Cupboard (Currently housed in College Services Building in Admissions Office)

Virtual Escape Room:  12:30pm-2pm  Looking to escape quarantine? Try out this virtual activity and see if you can solve the spy themed escape room as a "spy apprentice." You can complete this activity solo or plan to log on and escape as a team. Prizes for all participants and larger prizes for those who escape with the quickest time.

                                         Monday January 18

"Been to the Mountain Top" with speaker Jason Sole

Criminal Justice Educator, Jason Sole, will enlighten, and empower students for advocacy as he discusses some of the complexities and genius of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's famous rhetoric.

Jason Sole works with organizations and individuals who believe that there must be equity for there to be freedom and that there must be a radical redefining of criminality for there to be justice.

Thursday 21

Cooking Connected : 2pm-2:30pm 

Cooking Connected is a LIVE online cooking class! We go live on Facebook and YouTube every Thursday at 2pm. These cooking series follow a similar format to regular Cooking Matters classes. Classes feature a culinary instructor and a nutrition educator, who work together to guide the class through a cooking demonstration and a nutrition lesson.

Friday 22

 

Virtual CEE Project - Cards for Seniors:  11am-1pm   Join your fellow students to make greeting cards to bring a smile to a senior in a nursing home. Make a digital greeting card by following these directions. The Center for Experiential Education staff will then print and deliver the cards for you to residents at Presbyterian Homes in Bloomington. We will host a virtual room as well to make cards together if you want to join!
