Purpose: This policy establishes standards, processes and conditions that enable consistent creation and operation of advisory committees at the program and college levels. |

Part 1: Purpose of Advisory Committees | |
Subpart A: Program Advisory Committees shall provide guidance and advice on initial development, accountability, expansion, and closure of the academic program. The Program Advisory Committee may also provide recommendations and advice on curriculum, marketing, and program evaluation. |

Subpart B: A College Advisory Committee shall assume responsibility for promoting and securing support for college programs and services and for advising the President about ways in which programs and services can be responsive to the needs of students and to the service area, as well as other purposes as defined by the President. |

Part 2: Membership | |
Subpart A: Program Advisory Committees include employers and/or industry experts, students, representatives from transfer institutions, and others as appropriate. Faculty and administrators may participate in advisory committee meetings as ex officio members. |

Subpart B: A College Advisory Committee includes community members, employers, K12 representatives, alumni, current students, faculty, administrators, and staff. Members shall be appointed by the college president. |

Subpart C: All campus advisory committees shall maintain current rosters of members. |

Part 3: Stucture and Governance | |
Subpart A: Program Advisory Committees shall establish a structure and governance system that includes election of a chair and other officers, and determination of rules of order, decision making, and reporting. One advisory committee may serve a cluster of related programs, provided the committee has industry representatives with expertise in each program area. |

Part 4: Meeting Schedule | |
Subpart A: Program Advisory Committees shall establish a regular meeting schedule, and shall meet at least once each year. |

Subpart B: A College Advisory Committee shall establish a regular meeting schedule, and shall meet at least once each year. |

Part 5: Work Plan and Priorities | |
Subpart A: Work plans established by Program Advisory Committees shall be consistent with the purposes of an advisory committee as outlined in Part 1: Subpart A. |

Subpart B: Work plans established by a College Advisory Committee shall be consistent with the purposes of an advisory committee as outlined in Part 1: Subpart B. |

Part 6: Communications | |
Subpart A: Program Advisory Committees shall establish official means of communication and a timeline for communicating notice of meetings, agendas, and meeting minutes. All Program Advisory Committee policies, procedures, work plans, membership, and meeting minutes shall be made available upon request. |

Part 7: Recommendations and Documentation | |
Subpart A: Advice from Program Advisory Committees shall be documented in meeting minutes and shared with program faculty and staff for program review and annual planning. Program faculty and staff shall be responsible for addressing advisory committee recommendations, understanding that program faculty and staff and the college may not be able to act on all advisory committee recommendations. A summary of the response and status of recommendations will be provided at the next regularly scheduled advisory committee meeting. |

Subpart B: Advice from a College Advisory Committee shall be documented in meeting minutes and shared with the college leadership to inform annual planning and improvement. The president shall be responsible for addressing advisory committee recommendations, understanding that the college may not be able to act on all advisory committee recommendations. A summary of the response and status of recommendations will be provided at the next regularly scheduled advisory committee meeting. |

Part 8: Evaluation | |
Subpart A: Program Advisory Committees shall be evaluated at least every three years. Results of the evaluation and a written response to the feedback shall be shared with the advisory committee, program faculty and staff, and college administration. |
