2.1 Acceptable Forms of Identification Policy

Purpose: Determination of the true identity of a student who has requested information, services or activities pertaining to a student’s record, such as placement testing, is necessary to insure the college’s compliance with the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines. |

Part 1: The College has established an approved list of identification. (see attachment) | |
Subpart A: Approved photo identification is needed to receive FERPA protected data. |

Subpart B: Approved photo identification is needed to receive services reserved to enrolled students. |
|
Subpart C: Approved photo identification is needed to participate in activities pertaining to a student’s record such as placement testing. |

Part 2: Approved forms of identification must be as current as possible to ensure the photo likeness. | |
Subpart A: A two-year limit for expired approved forms of identification will be accepted. |

Subpart B: State ID renewal forms will only be accepted with the original clipped state ID and vice-versa. |
