Robert W. Gronemann

Robert W. GronemannMusic Theory; Ear Training; Applied Piano
Robert Gronemann holds a BM and MM degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Minnesota. In addition to teaching Music Theory, Ear Training, and Applied Piano at Normandale since 2009, Mr. Gronemann has also been actively engaged as a soloist and accompanist in the Twin Cities and throughout the Midwest. He has been a member of the piano faculty at Normandale since 2000. Robert Gronemann also serves as the Department Chair and Executive to the National Association of Schools of Music.

Jeffrey Hess

Dr. Jeffrey HessApplied Voice
Jeffrey Hess holds a BA degree in Music and Applied Music from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and both a MM and DMA in Vocal Performance from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Hess is an active soloist in the Twin Cities region, a member of the American Choral Directors Association, National Association for Music Education, Minnesota Music Educators Association, College Music Society ad the National Association of Teachers of Singing. He has been a member of the music faculty at Normandale since 2003.

Dr. Marc Jaros Concert Choir; Vocal Ensemble; Music History; World Music
Marc Jaros holds a BA degree from St. John's University, a MM in Musicology from the University of Wisconsin, and a PhD from the University of MN. Mr. Jaros' professional memberships include the American Choral Director's Association and the National Association for Music Education. Mr. Jaros has been a member of the music faculty at Normandale since 1996.

Dr. Kristi Kruse – Kristi Kruse holds a DMA and MM in piano performance from the University of Minnesota and a BM in piano performance from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She also teaches at St. Joseph's School of Music and is an active composer and arranger, partly inspired by jazz study with Laura Caviani. Kristi began teaching at Normandale in 2017. 

Dr. Elizabeth Karelse

Dr. Elizabeth KarelseApplied Piano

A prizewinner of multiple competitions, Elizabeth has given concerts at all major concert halls of The Netherlands, as well as performances in the USA, Great Britain, Austria, Italy, Finland, and Japan. Elizabeth holds degrees from the Royal Conservatoire of The Netherlands in The Hague (BA + teaching license), the Hamline International Piano Institute at Hamline University in Saint Paul, MN (MALS), and the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN (DMA with a secondary area in pedagogy and education). She's active as a soloist and chamber musician and performs frequently.

James A. Kurschner

James A. KurschnerConcert Band; Instrumental Ensemble; Class Piano; Applied Music Coordinator
James Kurschner holds a BME degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and a MM degree in instrumental conducting from Northwestern University. He has been a member of the music faculty since 2001.
Mr. Kurschner is the music director and conductor of the Sheldon Theatre Brass Band in Red Wing, MN. He is a member of the National Association for Music Education, The Minnesota Music Educator's Association.

Aaron Moe

Aaron Moe holds a MM from Northern Illinois University in Jazz Pedagogy/Performance and a BM in music education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He has been on the faculty at Normandale Community College since 2005. He has also served as Director of Jazz Performance Studies at the University of Missouri – Columbia and as an associate band director at the nation's first Grammy Signature School, Valley High School, in West Des Moines, IA.

Wade Oden

Wade OdenApplied Guitar
Wade Oden holds a BM and MM in Guitar Performance from the University of Minnesota. He is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in the same field. Wade's guitar teachers include O. Nicholas Raths, James McGuire and Jeffrey Van. His performance credits include concerts with the Voce y Cuerdas duo performing a widely varied repertoire including new works by local composers Chris Gable, Libby Larsen, Carol Barnett and Todd Harper. In 2008, Wade toured with the Rose Ensemble vocal group to the Festival d'Il de France. This performance was recorded live and broadcast on Radio France. He joined the Minneapolis guitar quartet in 2011 and has toured and recorded extensively with them, including an appearance on MPR with local composer and pipa virtuoso Gao Hong. Wade is an active composer and arranger. His "Aquam Effunde" for piano, bass clarinet and marimba won first prize in the 2005 Eric Stokes song writing contest and he continues to arrange music for the Normandale Guitar Ensemble.

Jeffrey Olsen

Jeffrey Olsen - Intro to Finale, Intro to Music Tech I & II
Jeffrey Olsen holds a BA in music performance from the University of St. Thomas, a K-12 Licensure in Music (instrumental and general) from the University of St. Thomas, and a MA in Teaching with an emphasis in Learning Technologies also at the University of St. Thomas. Jeffrey Olsen has taught brass instruments and performed in both classical and jazz ensembles for the past 17 years. Besides working as an adjunct at Normandale, he has also have been working part time in the postion of CLA2 for the Music Department. Mr. Olsen has taught private instruction on brass instruments for the past 22 years. During his spare time, he performs in various classical and jazz ensembles throughout the Minneapolis / St.Paul area.

Jeffrey Patry

Jeffrey Patry – Staff Accompanist
Jeff Patry is currently the staff accompanist, a position he has held for five years. Jeffry is also the director of Sacred Music and Principal Organist of Sacred Heart in Robbinsdale, MN. He is also the accompanist for the Cantabile Chorus of Angelica Cantanti. Mr. Patry holds a BM in organ performance from St. Olaf College where he studied with Dr. John Ferguson and Mr. Douglas Cleveland. Additionally, he is a member of the Twin Cities Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and is also the chair of the Professional Development Committee. Mr. Patry is frequently an accompanist for events in the Twin Cities and surrounding communities.
