William C. Moyers will speak at Normandale Community College as part of the college's Slice of Life series on Wednesday, February 10 in the Lorenz Auditorium at 7 p.m.
His talk, entitled A Slice of Life: My Story of Addiction and Redemption, will shed light on a public health crisis that affects millions like him, touching on a number of current topics, such as the national opioids epidemic, changing attitudes about marijuana, the forgotten drug of alcohol, efforts to smash the stigma of addiction, and important conversations taking place on the presidential campaign trail.
Moyers is a best-selling author and the Vice President of Public Affairs and Community Relations for the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, which has been saving lives and restoring families from substance abuse and addiction for more than 60 years. From "carrying the message" about addiction, treatment and recovery, to public policy and philanthropy, Moyers brings a wealth of professional expertise and an intimate personal understanding to communities across the nation.
