First-Generation Day

This year TRIO SSS with the help of our partners will be hosting a celebration for First-Generation Day that falls on Friday November 8th.  First-generation is defined as (Your parent(s) did not have a 4 year degree when you were enrolled in college).

The week leading up that day we will be tabling in the Kopp Center providing our first-generation students with opportunities to share what fueled them to "the first", get a first-generation button to proudly wear, and some interactive projects they can participate in. We want to celebrate and involve you as well!  Opportunities to be involved:

  • Let us know you identify as first generation so we can campus mail you a button to wear that week!
  • Participate in an interview about your experience for our video we plan to share that day. ( Interviews will take 10-15 minutes and will be coordinated by our awesome peer mentor)
  • Volunteer to help with the tabeling (a sign up genius will be sent to you.)
  • Show up to support students /promote other events happening this week! A flyer will be out soon!

If you are interested in any of these opportunites please email and simply let her know which one (s)!
