Nurses and nursing students often care for patients who have or may be at risk for serious illness. To ensure student and patient safety, we require nursing students to meet a few non-academic requirements as part of the admissions process.
The nursing department requires the following:
Provide health and immunization documentation for each year you are in the nursing program. Your health care provider must sign the document. Clinical partners are also currently requiring COVID-19 vaccination.
Complete the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommended immunization schedule for adults. Additional immunizations may be required of you as a healthcare provider.
Negative tuberculosis (TB) status must be demonstrated each year. Proof of a negative TB test should meet the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) requirements.
Documentation of CPR certification Healthcare Provider level will be provided to the Health Sciences Enrollment Manager by the due date stated at nursing student orientation.
All nursing students will complete a Minnesota Department of Human Services Background study, and you must receive full clearance. Specific instructions on completing the study will be provided during your nursing student orientation sessions.
Submit your documentation to the Health Sciences Enrollment Manager by the due dates stated during orientation. Each of these is essential for you to complete the admission process.
