law enforcement

Studying law enforcement at Normandale and at the Law Enforcement Education Center (LEEC) at Hennepin Technical College, means you want to pursue a career where you’re helping and protecting people. If you want to promote peace and safety in Minnesota communities and serve others — this is a great place to start.

Our law enforcement program prepares you to seamlessly transfer to a four-year Minnesota State university in just two years.

You’ll study a wide range of law enforcement topics — from communications, to juvenile justice, to sociology.  You’ll come away with a foundational understanding of policing and the criminal justice system, and your important role in it.

Where Will Law Enforcement Take You?

With a law enforcement associate’s degree from Normandale, you’ll be transfer-ready to one of seven Minnesota State colleges where you can pursue your bachelor’s degree.

You’ll gain valuable skills in written and interpersonal communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving. Most importantly, you’ll have the skills you need — and the preparation it takes — to pursue policework.

Our program prepares students to be eligible to take the Minnesota Peace Officer Licensing Exam.

What Makes Our Law Enforcement Program Unique?

Your courses in the law enforcement transfer pathway will directly transfer to a four-year Minnesota State university and you’ll enter as a junior. You’ll be set to pursue your bachelor’s in law enforcement and be eligible to take the Minnesota Peace Officer Licensing Exam.
