Coming to Normandale:

STEM Camp 2017 - iCode Wearables

June 19-22 & 26-29, 2017

STEM Camp 2017

iCode Wearables

The summer STEM Camp, for girls in grades 5-9, combines fun and games from Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) with speakers and field trips.

The focus of the camp will be electronics, electrical engineering and software. Students, working with Jill Johnson (Electrical Engineer and Normandale Faculty), Debbie Shortreed (Practicing K-12 teacher), and multiple pre-service teachers from the Normandale Education program, will use an Arduino microcomputer to program and sew electric "wearables". We are extending the length of the camp this year in an effort to provide more time for students to do more in-depth coding.

Students will learn about the design process as well as study the electronics and software involved in coding.

The camp experiences are intended to give the participants an opportunity to engage in the engineering design process, discuss careers in technology with those in the field.

This is the 10th annual STEM Camp.

Camp Dates are Monday, June 19th through Thursday June 22nd, and Monday June 26 through Thursday, June 29th.
