Normandale Japanese Garden celebrates 40th Anniversary

By Steven Geller - Director of Media and Public Relations

The Normandale Community College Japanese Garden is hosting "Show and Tell Sundays" throughout the summer on the third Sunday of each month, through September, from 2 to 4 p.m. The "Show and Tell Sundays" will be free to the public.

The Garden Committee hosted a koi release event to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Japanese Garden on July 17. A large butterfly koi and a school of smaller koi were released into the pond in the Japanese Garden. A second large koi will also be added in the near future. The new fish will be joining the koi that already reside in the pond.

Additional dates for Sunday "Show and Tells" will take place August 21 and September 18.  Come visit, relax and enjoy this special place.

The garden was designed by Tokyo garden architect Takao Watanabe at the request of the Bloomington Affiliated Garden Clubs.

It was built by donations and volunteer labor. When you come to campus on Sundays, please note that the closest point to the garden is the parking lot on the northwest end of the buildings.
