Applications, eligibility criteria and deadlines for the following Normandale Scholarships and Awards are determined separately by individual departments.

Anthropology Scholarship

Award:

  • $5,000.00

Eligibility:

This award is given to a Normandale student graduating with an emphasis in anthropology and an intention to pursue a four-year degree in an anthropologically related discipline.

Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and have taken at least four courses drawn from Normandale's Anthropology curriculum by the time they receive their Associates Degree.

Application:

Students interested in applying for this award are encouraged to contact an Normandale Community College Anthropology faculty member for additional information about requirements and the details of the application process.

Deadline:

  • The deadline for applying is April 15.

Art Department Scholarships

Bryant Art Scholarship

Award:

  • $750.00

Eligibility:

  • Be a current full-time or part-time Normandale Student

  • Have submitted an application to the AFA in Art degree program

(May submit concurrently with scholarship application)

  • Have completed at least three art classes at Normandale (Minimum of 9 credits earned in art)

  • Have satisfactory academic standing - GPA of 3.5 in Art and 3.0 overall

  • Submit a portfolio of 5 - 10 original works (Actual or Digital)

  • Submit a current transcript or Degree Audit Report

  • Previous recipients are ineligible.

Eligible students apply by completing and submitting the scholarship application and portfolio to Martha Wittstruck, Chair, Art Department.

A dropbox will be available on her office door.

Application Deadline:

  • 4 pm on March 20 Annually

Awards will be announced at the Student Show Reception


Felicity Abby Jane Mathieu Art Scholarship ($750)

Award:

  • $750.00

Eligibility:

  • Be a current full-time or part-time Normandale Student

  • Have submitted an application to the AFA in Art degree program

Biology Department Scholarship

Bruce Lindgren Scholarship

Award:

  • The scholarship provides about $1000 toward the cost of resident tuition, books and/or laboratory supplies for one of the following Biology courses at Normandale Community College during fall semester or spring semester of the next academic year:

Description: The Normandale Biology Department offers scholarships of about $1000 toward the cost of resident tuition, books and/or laboratory supplies for one of the following courses offered during the  academic year:

Prerequisite: Students must have successfully completed, with a grade of C or better, BIOL 1105 (General Biology: Cells to Organisms) or BIOL 1106 (General Biology: Ecology and Evolution) at Normandale Community College. Previous recipients are not eligible.

Geography-Geology Department Scholarship

MacDonald Geography/Geology Scholarship

Award:

  • This scholarship is funding for a 4 credit course as a one-time deduction from the recipient's Spring tuition. 

Named after emeritus Normandale faculty member Doug MacDonald and his wife Sharon.  The MacDonald Geography-Geology Merit Scholarship is intended to identify an outstanding student in one of our courses, and encourage that student to further explore the Geography and Geology disciplines.

Eligibility: 

Applicants for this award must be enrolled as a student at Normandale during the Fall  semesters, must plan to take a Geography or Geology course at Normandale during the following Spring  semester, and, by the end of the Fall semester, must:

  • Have successfully completed at least 12 credit hours but not more than 60 credit hours at Normandale
  • Hold a grade point average at Normandale of at least 3.0
  • Have completed at least one Geography or Geology course at Normandale with a grade of either A or B.

Selection Criteria: The recipient selection process considers the following criteria:

  • Your grade point average at Normandale
  • Your progress and performance in geography or geology course(s) at Normandale
  • Your personal statement.

  • Completed applications must be submitted to Paul Sabourin, Geography-Geology Department Chair, by the last day of fall semester.

Announcement of Award: The Geography-Geology Department Chair will contact the recipient during the first few weeks of Spring semester.  Unsuccessful applicants will also be notified.

Conditions of Acceptance: To accept this award, the recipient must be enrolled in a geography or geology course at Normandale during the Spring semester.

Music Department Scholarship

Pinsonneault Scholarship

The Pinsonneault Scholarship is a $1000.00 scholarship, awarded once each academic year. Recipients are notified usually within a week after their audition.

Eligibility:

  1. Minimum overall college GPA of 3.0 or a minimum overall high school GPA of 3.2

  2. Full- time student enrolled in AFA in Music or AA with Music Emphasis degree program

  3. Participate in an audition through the Normandale Community College Music Department.

  4. Provide a letter of recommendation from a member of the Normandale Community College Music Department or a high school music instructor.

Study Abroad Scholarships

Students must be enrolled as a Normandale Community College student and been accepted in one of the study abroad programs to apply. Only complete scholarship application packets will be considered and must be received on or before November 1st or March 1st.

Gilman International Scholarship

The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide.

Theatre Department Scholarships

Jim & Linda Wallace Scholarship

Award Amount

  • $500.00 - $1000.00

The Jim & Linda Wallace Theatre Arts Scholarship will be given to a talented student who is interested in pursuing a career in professional and/or academic theatre. The scholarship will be available for use Fall Semester 2014 and Spring Semester 2015 and will be applied to the student’s tuition and fees.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Applicant must demonstrate exceptional promise in one or more areas of theatre such as Acting, Tech/Design, or Stage Management

  • Applicant must participate in some capacity on each production and its strike during the scholarship period through enrollment in either THTR 1120: Theatre Performance Practicum or THTR 1122: Technical Theatre Practicum

  • Applicant must participate in theatre recruitment activities as part of the award

  • Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

  • Applicant must enroll for at least 12 credits per semester during the scholarship period.

Excellence in Theatre Scholarship

Award:

  • $1000.00

The Excellence in Theatre Scholarship will be given to a talented student who is interested in pursuing a career in professional and/or academic theatre. The scholarship will be available for use Fall Semester 2014 and Spring Semester 2015 and will be applied to the student’s tuition and fees.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must demonstrate a high level of achievement in academic theory and practice in either performance or production and design

  • Applicant must have completed a minimum of two semesters of study at Normandale Community College.

  • Applicant must participate in theatre recruitment activities as part of the award

  • Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale with a 3.0 in theatre courses

  • Applicant must enroll for at least 6 credits per semester during the scholarship period

Deadline:

  • March 21 Annually

Upward Bound Scholarship

Award:

  • $500 and only if you enroll at Normandale for the first fall semester following your high school graduation.

Eligibility:

  • This scholarship is for students who are participants in Upward Bound.

We take applications anytime before they award spring semester financial aid.

Normandale Department of World Languages Scholarship

Award:

  • $600.00 (tuition credit)

Eligibility:

  • This scholarship is only available to current World Languages students who will enroll in a World Languages Department course in the summer or fall.

Deadline for Application:

  • March 7 Annually
