Two for One

New grants bolster Normandale Dental Hygiene and Health Science programs.

Delta Dental has awarded grants to Normandale's Dental Hygiene and Community Health Worker Navigator Programs to support the redesign of the dental curriculum and develop an interprofessional team for the Community Health Worker Navigator Certificate program.

Delta Dental awarded a $178,000 grant to Normandale's Dental Hygiene Department in March 2014. The overarching goal of the grant is to refine and improve Minnesota's dual licensed practitioner, dental hygiene and dental therapy model, broaden its reach to greater Minnesota, plus redesign the dental curriculum for workforce redevelopment and expansion.

Earn bachelor's and master's, stay at Normandale

Normandale and Metropolitan State University are partnering to provide dual enrollment for the Dental Hygiene program for both schools. The program allows students to stay on Normandale's campus to pursue both a master's and bachelor's degree in dental hygiene.

The Community Health Worker Navigator certificate serves as an entry-level healthcare career to help reduce health disparities and increase overall health.

Delta Dental's grant is part of 11 grants totaling $1,949,800 in year-end giving to programming that supports Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation's mission of improving oral and community health as it recognizes the connection to overall health in Minnesota.
