Normandale receives a pair of MnSCU awards.

Normandale collected two awards from Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) during an awards ceremony that took place on campus as part of the ASA (Academic and Student Affairs) Leadership Conference on May 29, 2014.

Guelich named Outstanding Administrator

Vice President of Academic Affairs Julie Guelich was named the 2013-14 Outstanding Academic and Student Affairs Administrator. During Guelich's 40 years with the college, she has served as a faculty member, department chair, and a division dean. Over the course of her career, she has consistently excelled at keeping abreast of educational and workforce trends.

Guelich has also been available as a consistent resource and advocate for many different programs. She has been an innovator, a mentor, a life-long learner, a community partner, a quality instructor, and a key senior member of the President's Council, among many other roles.

Campus Cupboard named Most Innovative

Normandale's Campus Cupboard also received the 2013-14 Academic and Student Affairs award for Innovative Student Affairs Program. The Campus Cupboard was created prior to the 2012 fall semester for students on campus who don't have the financial means to eat every day. Normandale created the Campus Cupboard in collaboration with Good in the ‘Hood, a Bloomington partner organization that focuses on acts of kindness as means of transforming individual lives, families and communities.

The original committee for the Campus Cupboard included Kate Anderson, Colleen Brickle, Cindy Carow Schiebe, Joyce Carey, Wanda Kanwsicher, Amanda Lilgreen, Greg Lyons, Shawn Morrison, Jill Peifer, Monica Saralampi, and Nick Schneider.
