The Normandale Foundation’s 8th annual scholarship and donor recognition event took place on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 on campus. The event celebrated the academic success of Normandale students, recognized Normandale alumni and thanked the generous donors who support Normandale.

Colleen Simpson, Executive Director of the Foundation, welcomed the guests and highlighted the Foundation’s successes over the past year. President Joe Opatz and Vice President of Academic Affairs Julie Guelich congratulated the student scholarship recipients and acknowledged their scholarship by presenting them with a certificate.

One of the most compelling parts of the evening was by student scholarship recipient Lisa Goehring-Lindemann when she spoke about what receiving a scholarship meant to her.

“Being a student at Normandale instilled confidence in me as a professional healthcare giver. Receiving a scholarship has shown me the value in giving to others and has inspired me to pay it forward in life.”

Lisa’s message resonated with many in attendance.

Another highlight was alumnus Richard St. Germain receiving the 2013 Alumni Achievement Award.  (Click here for more.) Richard reminded the students to never give up on education and to always give back. Richard is an outstanding example of someone who does both.
