Applying for a Stafford Loan
Have a Completed FAFSA?
If you have completed the FAFSA, you may check your status at Your Info ON THE WEB. Follow the login instructions on the screen. Once you have logged in, click on the Student tab at the top. On the left side, under your Student ID click on your Financial Aid Award letter.
Have Not Completed a FAFSA?
If you have not completed a FAFSA for 2003-2004, apply electronically by using FAFSA on the Web. Application for financial aid should be made well in advance of the time funds are needed. We recommend allowing at least eight weeks for the processing of you financial aid file. Please keep in mind that you must reapply for financial aid each year and you cannot receive aid from more than one school for the same period of enrollment.
Registered for Selective Service?
If you are male between the ages of 18 and 25, you must have registered for the selective service in order to receive Financial Aid. Register for selective service online by going to the Selective Service System web page.
Application Process
-
Step 1. Apply for your
Federal PIN. Your parents should apply for a PIN, also. Your PIN
serves as your electronic signature. Wait to receive your PIN before
completing the rest of the application process.
-
Step 2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA) on-line at FAFSA On the WEB
for the year that you plan to attend NCC. You must complete a new FAFSA
each year you want to receive financial aid. NCC's Title IV code is
007954. Your name and social security number must be reported just like
they appear on your Social Security card or it will cause delays.
-
Step 3. Turn in all documents requested by NCC. Make sure
that all documents are signed by you, your spouse, and parents (if
applicable). It is your responsibility to complete your application file,
so take a proactive approach to make sure that you have done all that you
need to do. Please feel free to call (952-487-8250) us at any time to
check on the status of your file! We want to make this process as easy and
understandable as possible. To ensure priority consideration for
all programs for the next school year, your financial aid file must be
completed by April 15th. Files completed after that date will be processed
and awarded with funds still available.
- Step 4. When your file is complete (ie. all documents requested have been submitted) it will be reviewed. If we need additional information, a request for that information will be mailed to you. If we have all the information we need, we calculate your awards and mail an award letter to you. Your award letter will tell you what types of funds you are eligible for and the amount you are eligible for at your enrollment level. Be sure to read all enclosed documents...there is important information regarding your rights and responsibilities that you need to be aware of!
