Normandale Community College student Maleah Otterson was named Outstanding Student Leader of the Year for the Minnesota State College Student Association (MSCSA) at the Spring General Assembly Conference.
This year, Otterson was the Normandale Student Senate Executive Legislative Director, the MSCSA Metro South Platform Committee Regional Representative and she was also appointed to sit on a Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) committee representing MSCSA.
Normandale's student senate was also one of only 12 colleges to receive Star Campus honors this year.
Of those 12, five were the Metro South region campuses wwhere Maleah provided leadership.
It marked the fourth year in a row that Normandale has received these honors.
Criteria for the award included active attendance at MSCSA events, participation in MSCSA campaigns such as our Pell Grant petition work and recruiting students to lobby at the Minnesota Capitol.
