Normandale Community College Vice President of Academic Affairs Julie Guelich was named the 2013-14 Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) Outstanding Academic and Student Affairs Administrator.

In Guelich's 40 years with the college, she has served as a faculty member, department chair, a division dean and is currently the vice president of academic affairs. During that time, she has excelled at keeping abreast of educational and workforce trends.

She has also been available as a consistent resource and advocate for many different programs. Guelich has been an innovator, a mentor, a life-long learner, a community partner, a quality instructor, and a key senior member of President's Council, among many other roles.

A team of academic and student affairs system-level staff selected Guelich for this award. They reviewed the accomplishments of the candidates based on criteria such as leadership, innovation, and contributions to teaching, learning, and the success of students at the college and within the system.

Guelich received the award on May 29 on the campus of Normandale during an Academic & Student Affairs (ASA) Leadership Conference.
