Members from the She Kills Monsters production have been invited to perform at the Region V Kennedy American College Theatre Festival at Des Moines, Iowa, which will take place from January 21-27, 2018.
Normandale's production was one of only a pair of two-year college performances in the region, and one of only two performances from the state of Minnesota to be selected. She Kills Monsters was directed by Normandale instructor Anne Byrd.
The following is a description of the plot of She Kills Monsters. When conventional Agnes Evans loses her younger sister, Tilly, in a car crash, she must confront the fact that she knew precious little about her eccentric sibling. Filled with guilt, Agnes discovers Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, which sends her on a journey into her sister's lively imagination. In Tilly's world, Agnes must confront not only the monsters of the game, but also those of her own making. A fantastical celebration of geekdom, She Kills Monsters is an action-packed comedy with heart. Adult themes and content. Not recommended for children.
The Department of Theatre will present a benefit performance of the production on Friday, January 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Premanand Fine Arts Theatre. All tickets will be $20 and proceeds will be used towards the cost of the students travel to the festival. Please call 952-358-8884 to make reservations or get more information at this link.
