Welcome to Normandale Community College
Normandale Community College, founded in 1968, has long been known for its high-quality, rigorous academic programs. The faculty and staff of Normandale are committed to the success of our students. Student learning is the focus of our mission.
Normandale Community College recently completed a Master Academic Plan, which affirms four key values in our work with students.
- Access: Normandale Community College reaches out to all students, helping them to progress toward their academic goals.
- Academic Excellence: Normandale Community College ensures that its curriculum meets the needs of our students, transfer universities, and communities.
- Meeting Student Needs: Normandale Community College strives to support its students academically and personally by creating an environment of learning and development.
- Outgoing Preparation: Normandale Community College prepares students for success in upper division coursework at transfer universities as well as in the workplace. We have strong partnerships with the MnSCU Universities, the University of Minnesota, and many private colleges and universities.
Normandale offers flexible, innovative programs.
- Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MNTC). This package of 40 credits satisfies ten general education goals and is accepted by all public institutions of higher education in Minnesota.
- Associate in Arts (AA) Degree. This is a 60-credit liberal arts degree containing the MNTC as its core. In addition, Normandale offers thirty-one AA with Emphasis degrees, allowing students to prepare for majors ranging from Anthropology to World Languages in later baccalaureate work.
- Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) Degree. Students interested in art, music, theatre, and creative writing can choose to complete a two-year degree leading to further academic training or employment.
- Associate in Science (AS) Degree. These degrees meet six of the ten goal areas in the MNTC and prepare students for transfer or careers. Students can earn an AS degree in areas such as Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Business and Marketing, Engineering, Computer Science, Elementary Education, Special Education, and Hospitality.
- Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree. AAS degrees are two-year degrees designed to prepare students for employment.
- Certificates. Certificates are programs of study ranging from 9 to 30 credits. They provide focused learning opportunities, preparing students for employment or future study.
I encourage you to get to know the faculty, staff, and students during your time at Normandale. The college offers each student the opportunity to work with talented, dedicated faculty members whose primary interest is in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Best wishes as you experience all that Normandale Community College has to offer.
